BOTOX® Cosmetic injections are a wonderful tool for the treatment of dynamic facial wrinkles, with absolutely no down time! It has been in use for over ten years now for the treatment of various medical conditions, including facial wrinkles. BOTOX ® temporarily blocks the movement of muscles on the forehead, between the eyebrows, or on the sides of the eyes, thereby eliminating the wrinkles in those regions. The effect lasts an average of 3 months before wearing off. BOTOX ® injections effectively treats tension and migraine headaches. Additionally, it is very successful in controlling excessive sweating from the armpits or the palms and is now FDA approved for this indication.

A BOTOX® Cosmetic injection is directly injected into the muscles you want to relax.. It then goes on to enter the nerve endings to block the release of acetylcholine, the chemical that causes muscles to contract. BOTOX® Cosmetic is extremely specific in how it reacts to block the release of acetylcholine and, as a result, only the muscles we inject are relaxed. Once the muscles are at rest, the skin becomes smoother, creating a more natural and relaxed appearance. Some have called this unique therapy “a facelift in a bottle”.

BOTOX® Injection for sweating (Hyperhydrosis)
For the past 4 years, it has also been recognized that BOTOX® can dramatically reduce excessive sweating (hyperhydrosis). If injected under the arms, it can often reduce sweating completely. People usually request re-injecting 6 - 9 months later, even though only some of the sweating has returned.

A significant reduction in sweating can be achieved in the hands. Good improvement is usually seen that lasts up to 6 months. Many injections are often needed and anaesthetic, or freezing, may be required before hand treatment.

BOTOX® Injection for Migraine and Tension Headaches
 BOTOX® is extremely effective in treating migraine and tension headaches. Clinical studies are now being performed using BOTOX® for treating migraine headaches. The duration of action of BOTOX® migraine prevention varies from about 10 to 13 weeks. Like other migraine preventives, the onset of effect may take a few weeks.
