The Thermage
face lift is a non-invasive, no downtime procedure that tightens existing
collagen and builds new collagen to lift sagging skin and improve wrinkles.
This new medical device by Thermage® is unique
and revolutionary. Thermage® gives patients
results without the pulled appearance that often accompanies a surgical face-lift.
By utilizing radio-frequency energy the ThermaCool™ system uses the
heat generated in the skin to tighten existing collagen and stimulate new
collagen growth. This combination of tightening and new growth results in
lifting sagging skin, firming skin, and improving wrinkles.
Unlike the face-lift or other surgical procedures, Thermage® is
non-surgical, non-invasive, and has no downtime. The procedure is safe and
requires less than one hour. Only topical anesthesia is used and patients
return to work or play immediately following a Thermage® treatment.
Thermage® treatments
- Treatment sessions take about 40 minutes
- Topical anesthetic is applied to reduce discomfort
- Slight redness may occur but resolves quickly
- Slight skin tenderness resolves in a few days
- Research underway with treating breasts, buttocks,
upper arms, thighs, stretch marks, and severe cystic acne.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the ThermaCool™ system
by Thermage for the non-invasive treatment of wrinkles around the eyes
in November 2002. There are only a few Thermage® medical
devices nationwide at this time. Dr. Gupta was fortunate
to be one of the first dermatologist in Cincinnati to offer Thermage . Research
has shown the Thermage® procedure
gives excellent results for tightening areas of the body — the breasts, buttocks, upper arms, thighs, and stretch
marks and the treatment of severe cystic acne.
