Thread Lift
Also known as the Curl Lift, the Thread Lift is a minimally invasive procedure for lifting the forehead, midface and neck skin. The results are immediate. The technique involves placing special silk threads through the skin in a looped fashion and pulling them tight. The threads are placed with a needle through a small incision in the hairline. The procedure is performed with local anesthetic only. Patients can generally return to work within 24 hours. The threads can be removed, tightened or otherwise adjusted at any time. While the classic surgical facelift has long been the only option for patients with sagging skin, we now much prefer procedures without the risk of surgery and general anesthesia. The Curl Lift has been used in France for over 30 years and was first described in 1970 by Rene Guillemain. While similar in concept to the FeatherLift, the Curl Lift provides superior anchoring, better predictability, and better sustained tension, resulting in more noticeable results. The best candidates for the Curl Lift are young to middle age patients who are looking to lift their brows, or cheeks, or diminish jowl formation. The Curl Lift will soften nasolabial folds, as well as marionette lines. Those patients who have had a face lift may benefit from the Curl Lift to restore the waning results. Complications and side effects are mild and few due to the limited invasiveness of the procedure. Dimples around the lower curl may be observed, but these are easily fixed. Sometimes the skin above the suspension bunches up. This almost always disappears in 1-3 weeks. Possible asymmetry results can also occur, but are easily correctable. The procedure is completely reversible. |
