Vaser Liposuction
Vaser liposuction is an ultrasound-assisted form of liposuction performed in our office. High intensity focused ultrasound liquefies fat cells before they are suctioned out, sparing the surrounding nerves and blood vessels. The result is less bruising, more skin tightening, and a quicker recovery than traditional liposuction.
What is Vaserliposuction?
Vaser liposuction refines the classic procedure with ultrasound. After the area is numbed with tumescent fluid, a thin probe transmits high intensity focused ultrasonic energy that liquefies fat cells while leaving the surrounding tissue, nerves, and blood vessels intact. The liquefied fat is then gently suctioned out through tiny punctures. No stitches are required.
Because the fat is broken down by sound waves rather than force, patients typically see less bruising and swelling than with traditional liposuction. The heat from the probe also tightens the skin as it works, an effect that shows early and keeps improving over the following months.
Most cases are performed under local anesthesia right in our Montgomery Road office, with twilight or general sedation available for more extensive treatments. Our board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Balvant Arora, selects the approach with you at your consultation, and most patients are back at work within two to three days.
Who is Vaser liposuction for?
Vaser is for people who want liposuction results with a gentler procedure and a faster return to life.
Vaser is not a substitute for weight loss or a treatment for obesity. Dr. Arora examines the areas you want treated and tells you honestly whether Vaser, traditional liposuction, or a non-surgical option will get you the result you are after.
You are near your ideal weight
Vaser refines and enhances contours; it is not a weight-loss procedure.
Stubborn fat will not budge
Pockets on the abdomen, flanks, back, arms, thighs, neck, or chin that resist diet and exercise.
You want minimal downtime
Performed in-office, often under local anesthesia, with most patients back at work in two to three days.
Your skin could use tightening too
The ultrasound energy heats the skin as it works, so mild laxity improves along with the contour.
You are in good overall health
A medical history review is part of every consultation.
Where Vaserworks
Because the ultrasound probe is precise and gentle on surrounding tissue, Vaser treats everything traditional liposuction does, and handles delicate areas like the neck, chin, and arms especially well.

Time depends on how many areas are treated. You go home the same day, usually after a procedure under local anesthesia.
Expect fluid drainage for the first day or two and a compression garment for a few days to weeks. Most patients return to work after two to three days and resume exercise within one to three weeks.
Slimmer contours show within the first week; the final result settles over three to six months as swelling resolves. Removed fat cells do not come back. Follow-ups at one week, one month, and three months.
Frequently asked questions
How is Vaser different from traditional liposuction?
Vaser uses ultrasound waves to liquefy fat before it is removed, rather than breaking it up mechanically with the cannula. That selectivity spares surrounding tissue, nerves, and blood vessels, which means less trauma, less bruising, and a quicker recovery.
Does Vaser tighten skin?
Yes. The heat from the ultrasound probe tightens skin as it works, an advantage over traditional liposuction. Tightening shows early and continues improving for several months. For significant laxity we can add BodyTite, ThermiTight, or Ultherapy.
What areas can Vaser treat?
The abdomen, flanks, hips, back, arms, chest, neck, chin, thighs, buttocks, and calves, plus the buffalo hump at the base of the neck. Its precision makes it especially good for delicate areas.
Will I be awake during the procedure?
Most treatments are done under local anesthesia in our office, meaning you are awake and comfortable. Twilight sedation or general anesthesia are options for more extensive cases.
Will I have scars or stitches?
No stitches are needed. The fat is removed through tiny punctures that close on their own within about 72 hours and are placed discreetly.
What is recovery like?
There is fluid drainage from the puncture sites for the first 24 to 72 hours, and you wear a compression garment for a few days to weeks depending on the area. Most patients rest two to three days and return to work, then resume exercise within one to three weeks.
When will I see results?
Some change is visible immediately, and many patients fit smaller clothing within a week. The final result appears at three to six months once swelling fully subsides.
Are the results permanent?
Yes, as long as your weight and lifestyle stay stable. The treated fat cells are gone for good, and your body generally does not produce new ones to replace them, though remaining fat cells can enlarge with weight gain.
Does Vaser treat cellulite?
No form of liposuction is designed for cellulite. For that we use Vaser Smooth, a forked attachment on the same device that releases the bands causing the dimples.
How much fat can be removed in one session?
It depends on your body weight, body fat percentage, and the areas treated. Your surgeon gives you a realistic estimate at your consultation, and in rare cases a touch-up treatment is recommended later.
Is Vaser safe?
In the hands of a qualified, experienced provider, Vaser is a safe procedure. Bruising and swelling are usually mild; rare risks such as seroma, infection, or a skin burn are reviewed with you before treatment.
How much does Vaser liposuction cost?
Cost varies with the treatment areas and the extent of the procedure. You receive a personalized quote at your consultation, and financing plans are available.
