Woman at the beach with smooth, even skin on her legs and thighs, the areas Vaser Smooth treats

Vaser Smooth

Vaser Smooth treats cellulite at its structural cause, in a single session. A special forked attachment on the Vaser device releases the fibrous bands under the skin that pull it down into dimples, shrinks the fat lobules that bulge between them, and stimulates new collagen to smooth the surface. It is performed under local anesthesia in our office.

What isVaser Smooth?

Cellulite is a structural problem. Fibrous connective tissue bands under the skin pull it down, and lobules of fat push up between them; the result is the familiar dimpling, and because the cause is structural, treating it takes more than creams and lotions or a change in diet and exercise. Vaser Smooth goes to the structure itself: once the area is numbed with local anesthetic, a special forked probe slides under the skin and systematically releases the bands, liquefies the protruding fat lobules, and heats the skin to trigger new collagen. Gentle suctioning finishes the job for a smooth surface.

That is what separates it from non-invasive options like Exilis Elite and VelaShape. Those are great no-downtime treatments, but Vaser Smooth changes the architecture beneath the skin, so the results last far longer, and potentially permanently, in exchange for a little recovery time. It is the option we usually recommend for patients who want the most durable, structural correction and can accept a short recovery.

Vaser Smooth can stand alone or be performed in the same session as Vaser liposuction, and the fat collected can even be reused for fat grafting if you wish. Whether it is the right tool for your cellulite is settled at a consultation, where we review your goals, your general health, and your medical history.

Who is Vaser Smooth for?

Vaser Smooth is for people who want their cellulite actually corrected, not just temporarily softened.

Candidacy is decided at a consultation. We discuss your treatment goals, review your general health and medical history, and tell you honestly whether Vaser Smooth or a non-invasive option is the better fit for your cellulite.

You want improvement in a single treatment

Vaser Smooth is built around one session, not a package of repeat visits.

You want the most durable correction

VelaShape and Exilis Elite are the no-downtime alternatives; Vaser Smooth is the choice for anyone who wants the most durable, structural result and can accept a short recovery.

You can afford a little recovery time

Unlike the non-invasive options, there is a short downtime, the trade for results that hold much longer.

You may also want contouring

It pairs naturally with Vaser liposuction in the same session, and the collected fat can be reused for fat grafting.

You are in good overall health

A review of your health and medical history is part of every consultation.

Where Vaser Smoothworks

Cellulite shows up most where those fibrous bands and fat lobules meet: the outer and inner thighs, the buttocks, the hips, the abdomen, the arms, and the lower back.

Pricing depends on the areas treated and whether it is combined with Vaser liposuction, so we give a personalized quote at your consultation.

One treatment session under local anesthesia in our office; the time for your case is planned at consultation.

You wear a compression garment for about two to four weeks and can resume exercising one to two weeks after the procedure. Bruising is possible but not very common.

Final results typically develop a month after treatment and are long-lasting; the structural changes beneath the skin should hold much longer than other methods, potentially permanently.

Frequently asked questions

What is Vaser Smooth?

A minimally invasive, single-session cellulite treatment. A forked attachment on the Vaser device releases the fibrous bands that pull skin down into dimples, shrinks the protruding fat lobules, and stimulates collagen to smooth the skin.

How many sessions do I need?

One. Vaser Smooth is designed to treat cellulite in a single treatment session.

What anesthesia is used?

Local anesthesia only. The area is numbed, the probe does its work under the skin, and gentle suctioning finishes the treatment.

Are the results permanent?

There is a chance cellulite begins to form again in the future, but the structural changes made beneath the skin should hold much longer, and potentially permanently, compared with other methods.

How does it compare with VelaShape or Exilis Elite?

Those are excellent non-invasive options with no recovery time, and we offer both. Vaser Smooth trades a little recovery for more permanent results, because it physically releases the bands causing the dimples.

What is recovery like?

You wear a compression garment for about two to four weeks and can resume exercise one to two weeks after the procedure. Bruising can occur but is not very common.

When will I see final results?

Final results typically develop about a month after treatment.

Can it be combined with liposuction?

Yes. Vaser Smooth can be performed as a standalone treatment or in the same session as Vaser liposuction, and the fat collected can be used for fat grafting or transfer if you wish.

Will regular liposuction fix my cellulite?

No. Liposuction in all its forms removes fat but is not designed to reduce cellulite; the dimpling comes from the fibrous bands, which is exactly what the Vaser Smooth attachment is built to release.
