Botox for ED
Botox, the same botulinum toxin used cosmetically for more than 30 years, can also be injected to treat erectile dysfunction. It is an off-label use, supported by early studies, that works on blood flow rather than on-demand dosing. The treatment takes about 15 minutes, and results typically last four to six months.

How Botoxtreats ED
An erection depends on blood flowing freely into the penis. The neurotransmitter norepinephrine restricts that flow; in studies, Botox has been shown to stop its release without affecting nitric oxide, the messenger that supports an erection. Botox is believed to enhance erections by temporarily relaxing the smooth muscle in the blood vessel walls of the penis, letting blood move in faster for an erection that is stronger, harder, and lasts longer.
The injection itself is quick, about 15 minutes in our office, placed with a very small needle. The full effect develops over roughly two weeks and typically lasts four to six months, after which a repeat injection maintains the result. Some men also notice appearance benefits in the days after treatment: the penis looks more relaxed and smooth, which can help with concerns about shrinkage or scrotal tightness.
To be clear about what this is: using Botox for erectile dysfunction is off-label, meaning it is not FDA-approved for this indication, and the evidence so far comes from early studies rather than large trials. There is no magic bullet for ED. Whether this option makes sense for you is a decision you make with your provider at a private consultation, which begins with a health questionnaire to screen candidacy. We can also pair Botox for ED with EMSELLA, our fully clothed pelvic floor treatment, for a combined approach with no surgery.
Who is Botox for ED for?
For men in good health who want a discreet, longer-lasting alternative to oral ED medication, decided privately with your provider.
This is an off-label use of Botox, and it is not right for everyone. Men with a history of nerve or muscle impairment such as ALS or MS are not candidates. A health questionnaire at your initial consultation screens candidacy, and we will tell you honestly whether this, EMSELLA, plasma protein therapy, or another route fits your case.
Oral medications have disappointed
Studies have shown effectiveness even in men who had little to no response to Viagra or Cialis.
You want off-demand results
One injection works continuously for months, rather than timing a pill around intimacy.
You are in good overall health
Candidacy is confirmed through a health questionnaire and a private consultation with our medical team.
Appearance concerns bother you too
In the days after treatment, the injection can also soften the look of shrinkage and scrotal tightness.

Frequently asked questions
Is Botox FDA-approved for erectile dysfunction?
No. Using Botox for ED is an off-label use, supported by early studies rather than large clinical trials. Off-label prescribing is legal and common in medicine, but it means the FDA has not evaluated Botox for this specific indication. Your provider reviews the evidence and your candidacy with you at a private consultation.
Can Botox for ED help if oral medications have not worked?
Studies have shown effectiveness even in men who had little to no response to Viagra or Cialis. It is not a guarantee, and no treatment is a magic bullet for ED, but that research is one reason men consider this option.
How many treatments will I need?
Typically one treatment to see and feel results. The best results appear within about two weeks and last four to six months. When the effect wears off, a repeat injection maintains it.
Does the injection hurt?
It is placed with a very small needle and the visit takes about 15 minutes.
Is there any downtime?
There is little to no downtime, but you should wait at least four days after treatment before sexual activity.
Can it replace my ED pills?
For some men it can reduce reliance on oral medication, since it works continuously on blood flow rather than dose by dose. Whether that is realistic for you depends on your health and the cause of your ED, which is exactly what the consultation is for.
Can I combine it with other treatments?
Yes. We can pair Botox for ED with EMSELLA, a fully clothed pelvic floor treatment, for a combined approach with no surgery. Plasma protein therapy for ED is another option we offer. Like Botox for ED it is used off-label and is not FDA-approved for this purpose, and your provider will go through what that means for you.
Is my consultation private?
Yes. Every consultation here is private, discreet, and one on one. ED is common and nothing to be embarrassed about. It starts with a health questionnaire to make sure the treatment is safe for you.
